JorVet Silver Alginate dressing is a fibrous, highly absorbent (up to 20x its weight), all-natural biodegradable material derived from seaweed. The dressing absorbs exudates and forms a gel-like covering over the wound, which maintains a moist environment for optimal wound healing. The gel-like surface also keeps the dressing from adhering to the wound, which makes dressing removal painless. Metallic silver particles are added to the Calcium Alginate fibers that inhibit the growth of bacteria in the dressing. Each dressing contains 50ug/100cm2 metallic silver particles.
